Butyl lactate, butyl lactate, molecular weight C7H14O3, molecular weight 146.21. Fire, high heat can ignite. It reacts with the oxidant. Its vapor is heavier than the air, and it can spread to a very distant place at a lower point, where it will catch fire. In case of high heat, the pressure inside the vessel increases, and there is danger of cracking and explosion. Used as a solvent for producing amine and nitrocellulose coatings, also used in spices, synthetic resin and adhesives.

1. Used as solvent for cellulose nitrate paint, printing ink, natural and synthetic resin. It is also used for dry lotion, adhesive, anti-crusting and spices. For high boiling solvent, for natural resin, synthetic resin, paint, printing ink.
2. Cosmetic solvents. Main solvent for cosmetics such as nail polish. A good solubility of the film forming agent for nitrocellulose is usually added to the solvent to adjust the viscosity and volatilization speed.
