Chondroitin Sulfate

Chondroitin sulfate (CS) is an acidic mucopolysaccharide extracted and purified from animal cartilage tissue. Chondroitin sulfate has different structures such as A, C, D, E, H, and K. In nature, chondroitin sulfate is commonly found in animal soft bones, larynx, nasal bones (41% in pigs), bovine, equine diaphragm, and trachea (36% -39%), as well as in other tissues such as leg bones, ligaments, skin, and cornea. The cartilage of fish is rich in content, such as 50% to 60% in shark bones, and very little in connective tissue.

Chondroitin Sulfate

At room temperature, it is a white powder with no odor, no taste, strong water absorption, and is easily soluble in water to form a viscous solution. It is unstable when exposed to high temperatures or acids, mainly due to deacetylation or degradation into monosaccharides or polysaccharides with smaller molecular weights. Insoluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, its salts are relatively stable to heat and do not damage even when heated to 80 ℃.
