Definition
Damascus rose essential oil is a health product, extracted from rosa damascena, belonging to the Rosaceae family, also known as Bulgarian rose essential oil. Damascus rose essential oil has a deep, fresh taste with a typical rose-like scent. The essential oil is yellowish to green in color and one of the best oils to use on the skin.
The traditional processing method for roses is steam distillation, which is still the main method of production at present. Using this method for processing, due to the escape of some low boiling point components and the degradation, thermal rearrangement, and other reactions of some thermally unstable compounds, the requirements for the processing and extraction process are relatively high in order to ensure the quality of rose oil. The oil aroma extracted by this method is more rounded, transparent, light, and permeable, and the components are volatile oil soluble components.
