Tetrandrine (Tet), also known as tetrandrine, is a bisbenzylisoquinoline alkaloid extracted from the root of Stephania tetrandra Chemical Book S. Moore, a plant in the family Stephania tetrandra. It belongs to the bisbenzylisoquinoline class and is a novel calcium antagonist. It is the main active ingredient of tetrandrine.

Hanfangji is a dried root tuber of Stephania tetrandra S. Mccore in the family Menispermaceae, with irregular cylindrical roots. It is harvested in autumn, washed, peeled, and sun dried until half dry, then cut into small sections and dried again. The active ingredients of Hanfangji are alkaloids, mainly Hanfangji A and Hanfangji B.
