Description

Menthol, also known as menthol, is a terpenoid organic compound with the formula C10H20O. Menthol is a white crystal extracted from the leaves and stems of peppermint. It is the main ingredient in peppermint and peppermint essential oils. Menthol generally has two isomers (D and L), the natural menthol is mainly left-handed isomer (L-menthol), here menthol generally refers to the racemic menthol (DL-menthol). Menthol can be used as an odorant in toothpastes, perfumes, beverages and sweets.

Properties: Colorless and transparent needle-like or six columnar crystalline powder, with special mint cool aroma and

Solubility: Slightly soluble in water, easily soluble in ethanol, chloroform and petroleum  and can be mixed with

                 glacial acetic acid, liquid paraffin, non-volatile oil and volatile oil.

Extraction method: Use the fresh stems and leaves of mint to steam distill, and then freeze to precipitate crystals. The crystals

                                 obtained by centrifugation are crystallized with a low boiling solvent.

Efficacy: It has the functions of dispelling wind, clearing heat, sterilizing and antibacterial, and cooling and relieving itching.

Uses: 1. It can be used as a cooling agent and air freshener for daily chemicals.
