• Levodopa is the precursor substance of dopamine and is a commonly used drug name internationally. Different manufacturers have different trade names when the drug is put on the market.Oral levodopa tablets generally disintegrate and dissolve in the stomach, and then are discharged into the duodenum, and then reach the small intestine, where they are absorbed into the bloodstream at the upper end of the small intestine. A small part of levodopa can eventually pass through the "blood-brain barrier" and enter the brain. It is taken up by substantia nigra nerve cells or other nerve cells, and under the action of dopa decarboxylase, it removes a carboxyl group and becomes dopamine, thus replenishing dopamine in the brain.
